Astro Bot <\/em>Director Nicolas Doucet confirmed that more VIP bot characters will appear in the game as part a free update in 2024. This came up at the end of a brief interview with Quest Daily, during which he referenced the addition which would involve \u201csome new VIP bots to rescue<\/a> so that, you know, some characters that we didn\u2019t include yet\u2026 would appear.\u201d [Thanks, Quest Daily<\/a> and Gematsu<\/a>!]<\/p>

The commentary about the planned Astro Bot <\/em>free updates appear after the 6:25 mark in the video interview below. Doucet first confirmed there will be a free update involving speedruns. He referenced the ones that PS5 players did in the pack-in Astro\u2019s Playroom <\/em>game. He noted \u201cBut the challenging stuff is definitely coming\u201d when referring to those, and confirmed leaderboards will be included. When discussing those, he mentioned the additional VIP Bots would show up in the title.<\/p>

Astro Bot <\/em>crossovers also came up in a recent PlayStation Blog <\/a>interview. Sony talked to Doucet about VIP Bots there as well. When discussing the crossovers, he said, \u201cInitially, I thought we could only feature around 50 characters out of the 150 characters we wanted to feature. But to our greatest surprise, the studios unanimously agreed to the cameo of all 150 characters. Apart from our PlayStation Studios, we were also lucky to collaborate with third-party publishers.\u201d<\/p>
